Changeable, and probably a little slick.
It seems Autumn has finally arrived, even if the constant heavy showers are more reminiscent of Spring. The temperatures have fallen and it’s been a wet week, so it will be damp on the Hill over the weekend. Dig out the spikes!
Bear in mind as well that the 423 will be shut Saturday morning for some maintenance.

Rich and some Hillbillys will be working on the 423 this Saturday (29th October) to bring trail structures in line with Forestry Commission guidelines.
What this means in plain English is they will be making sure that the 423′s jumps are solid and super-safe to ride over the winter - by the time they’ve finished these puppies won’t be going anywhere!
The 423 will be shut Saturday morning and should be open again by midday.

Looking very good for the time of year. Again!
Conditions are (Gasp! Again!) dusty in places, only spoilt by the very occasional damp patch - if you’ve ridden here before, you’ll know where they are. Consequently the trails are running really well, especially for mid-autumn. If the forecast stays as predicted then it should be another great weekend of classic autumnal conditions!
Temperatures on Saturday will be cooler, so bring a hoody to sling on while you’re stopping for a breather.

Saturday looking better.
The benefit of doing a late report is that everything is bang up to date. It’s currently dry here in the Chilterns after a little rain earlier in the week. Conditions are dry in the open and a smidge damper in the trees, or in areas that hold water, which to be honest is a whole lot of fun! It’s not yet time for the full winter tyres, but definitely ditch the summer semi-slicks. The current Aston Hill tyre d’jour - the Specialized Hillbilly - could be just the one.
Heavy rain is forecast overnight which will mean that, if it happens, the Hill will be wet wet wet tomorrow. With the ground being hard as well, be prepared for some sliding action!
