Ricochet

Ricochet is probably the fastest of the five runs with bigger, sweeping turns interspersed with rooty sections. The top section is a gentle slope through the woods with a few small table-tops, before some big bermed turns into the steeper section of the course. While not as sheer as the Black Run, it still has plenty of challenge with fast off-camber sections and rooty drops, before a set of tighter switchbacks at the end.

A great run to start your downhill riding at Aston Hill.

Is this the trail for you?

Ricochet is suitable for all riders; the top is especially appropriate for those starting out riding downhill. It contains small jumps and technical elements, but everything can be rolled over.

Trail surface types

Constructed trails and/or natural features. Some challenging sections. Chalk and clay surface which is slippery when wet. Includes levels of exposure and/or risk.

Gradients and technical trail features (TTFs)

Will include a range of small and medium TTFs including steep downhill sections, bermed turns, off-camber sections, roots, small jumps and drops. Some jumping ability recommended.

Suggested fitness level

A good standard of fitness and technical skills.

What we recommend

  • We advise a full face helmet, gloves and body armour and recommend you familiarise yourself with the track before attacking at full speed.
  • Beginners and newer riders should avoid when wet due to the clay / chalk / roots / flint make-up of the local topography. Flint and trees are the enemy of flesh and bones!
  • For your own safety, do not push back up the trail! Use the push path provided.

It’s a decent length run, so if you’re anywhere near 1 1/2 minutes I’d say you’re doing very well!
