Built in summer 2009, Root Canal (formerly known as 423) has been used as a race track for various regional champs, and features every year on the Aston Hill race calendar.
Straight off from the start you’re into one of the biggest features of the track, a table top landing down onto the fireroad. Getting progressively steeper as it goes down, the track continues into a series of jumps, loose turns and finally ends up at the infamous J-turns before dropping into the finish.
Is this the trail for you?
Root Canal is a technical downhill trail for more experienced riders that is especially challenging when wet.
Trail surface types
Severe constructed trails and/or natural features. Many sections are continually challenging. Chalk and clay surface which is slippery when wet. Includes extreme levels of exposure and/or risk. Jumping ability required.
Gradients and technical trail features (TTFs)
Root Canal includes jumps, off camber elements, roots and steep turns.
Suggested fitness level
A good standard of fitness but technical skills are more important.
What we recommend
- We advise a full face helmet, gloves and body armour and recommend you familiarise yourself with the track before attacking at full speed.
- Beginners and newer riders should be competent riding Ricochet and the Red Run before tackling Root Canal.
- For your own safety, do not push back up the trail! Use the push path provided.
