As the great Marvin Gaye asked: What’s goin’ on?
You want to be in the know? OK! Here’s a quick update on what’s happening on the Hill over the past few months.

You may have noticed that there’s not been a lot of news about the work going on at Aston Hill on the site; this is because the builders are posting straight to our Facebook page. Go and take a look to catch up with up-to-the-minute progress!
It should be said that come Spring the Hill is going to be ab-so-lutely sick. It’s not just the complete re-build taking place on DH4 that should have you getting sweaty with excitement, there will also be amends to most downhills and plenty of refinements are planned on the XC to make it more weather-proof, more interesting and more beginner/intermediate-friendly too.
If you see the guys working say hi and ask as many questions as you want, but please stay out of any taped-off areas - there is machinery being used.
Roll on Spring!
The boardwalk is back open for business, but will be shut again in the near future for a second coat. Keep your eyes on the website for updates.
Otherwise enjoy!
…then be aware that the boardwalk section at the end of the Red Run is closed to have non-slip paint applied.
There will be a detour in place and it should be open again midweek, weather allowing.
Nice!
The first Hillbilly Trail Crew meet happened on Sunday 7th November with a very specific objective in mind: to get an old ‘secret’ piece of the XC route open and linking into the bottom of the Red Run. 22 people showed up at stupid o’clock on a positively autumnal morning with a combination of wild enthusiasm, hot coffee and hangovers, and got kitted up with shovels, mattocks, leaf-blowers and rakes.
A quick thanks to all those Hillbillies that showed up for a few hours hard graft clearing the backside of the XC loop; the entire switchback climb at the far end of the park is now clear of debris and looking schweet!
Want to get involved in the next maintenance morning? The next Hillbilly session is going to be on Sunday 7th November, which is going to include training on how to maintain sustainable trails. Drop an email to [email protected] if you’d like to come on over put something back into the Hill!
And don’t forget - if you want to be the first to hear about future dig days, put your name and email down on the digging email list so we can drop you a line about all future dig days.
Cheers!
You may remember talk of a raised boardwalk section back in January. Well, it’s now built, complete and ready to ride.
If you’re into your gadgets, video or photography then you may see an advert fairly soon featuring some familiar trail.
The addition to the end of the Red Run / XC downhill has been on the cards for a while. It’s now one step closer to completion, thanks to a morning of graft by Rich and team.
